Twinned with Pontorson, France and Wassenberg, Germany
Cricklade Road, Highworth

The Highworth Twinning Association (HTA) was formed in 1990 when the town twinned with Pontorson in Normandy. In June 2010 HTA celebrated 20 years of twinning with Pontorson and also signed a charter formalising its twinning arrangement with Wassenberg, Pontorson's twin town in Germany.

  • To promote and foster friendship and understanding between the people of Highworth, Pontorson and Wassenberg

  • Encourage and organise visits by groups and individuals - especially young people - between the three towns

  • Encourage the development of sporting activities between the three communities

  • Encourage and help members to learn French and German, or improve their command of the languages

  • Encourage the development of personal contacts at all levels, and so broaden the mutual understanding of the cultural, recreational, sporting and commercial activities of the three towns.
